Brake pads on my 2005 Ulysse 2.2 JTD need replacing soon. (40,000 miles). Discs look fine, very little lip on them and no real grooving. Can anyone give me a step by step guide on replacing pads as I have replaced many in my time but have not worked on this type of caliper before. I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of diagramatic instructions somewhere on the web but if not I should be able to follow written instructions. Thanks.

They are very easy to replace.
Jack the wheel and remove.
Swing the steering so the caliper is pointing outside.
There are 2 X 12mm bolts that hold the caliper assembly in place.
Unbolt them and you can lift it off.
You'll work the rest out.

Hi, I would caution you about pushing piston back in caliper, can lead to problems in master cylinder, solution is to open bleed screw and so prevent fluid going back through ABS unit to reservoir, collect and discard old fluid. This is just my own observation but worked well for me, fluid can be hard to top up without removing cabin filter, I did both at same time, brakes and cabin filter. any problem give me a pm.

I've always just leavered the piston back carefully. I figure it's what happens in real operation. Not had a problem with mine so far. Not to say it's not good advice to bleed instead but the fluid top up would be a PITA

On my previous cars I have just carefully pushed them back in but have known that this action can cause the problems outlined by Tony. No problems but I suppose I have been lucky! This time I will clamp and bleed as I could do with replacing cabin pollen filter anyway. I think it will be difficult enough to top up resevoir even with filter housing out of the way?

Brian.
