Hello,
I`ve got a 2088 ccm TD 1998 Ulysse, and have a problem, only when it`s warm\hot weather - whan I`m driving and accel pedal is pressed, sometimes amber "engine problem" light turns on and car significantly looses speed momentary. If I release accel pedal at that moment, in 99% "engine problem" turns off and car goes well again, but if I miss a moment, "problem" will light until engine is turned off and idle revs then are about 1200 rpm (they stays stable at 1200 rpm). In all other cases, idle revs are OK (about 700) and stable. Problem does not occures when it`s cold enough (< 10 degrees)... Does anybody knows what could it be?

Try the simple things first.

I fixed that very problem on a 1.2 petrol Seat Ibiza this week, a small split in one of the pipes in the engine breather pipe-work.

Codes in the ECU were Engine idle too high & engine re-circulation fault.

Take time to check the hoses carefully, they can split or collapse internally.

Thank you for reply, Ffoxy. As for me, the simple thing would be just to replace something (accel pedal position sensor for example), not pipes... Sorry for my stupid question - what do you call "engine breather" - air intake circuit, or EGR/ smth else?

Take a look under the bonnet, any soft rubber pipe going to the airbox / throttle body from thevarious emmission control stuff scattered about. Trust me, replacing a split pipe is easier than replacing a TPS... Plus pipes are relatively cheap... but if you feel the need to replace expensive bits on the off chance that you'll get lucky...

Have you scanned the ECU to see if any error codes are logged?
