Hi there, new guy here having just bought a 1997 2 litre s ulysse yesterday. Seem pretty good except for a tendency to stall - not got a manual for it yet so does anyone have any pointers as to what might be up with it and how to cure it please?

I have heard this is down to the idle control valve. My Ulysse does the same thing, and I've just bought a new valve on eBay. I'll fit it in the next week or so and let you know how I get on. Apparently this is a common fault on the Ulysse/Synergie/806. My problem gets worse when I switch the aircon on, the idle goes haywire.

hi Alanovich, can you tell me where the idle control valve is? I cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and that seemed to cure it for a while but it's stalling when cold again - it's ok once warmed up.

Normd, don't know if you've seen my post on the other, similar thread, but I've fitted the valve and it's made a huge difference. No more stalling.

Was a very quick, 5 minute job. The valve is screwed in to the side of the throttle linkage, just to the left where the throttle cable ends. If you look at a picture of one you'll recognise it when you look in your engine bay. You'll need a torx 15 allen key to get it out, I bought one of these off ebay too for pennies.

I think the fella I bought the valve from has a few more, so would be worth your while looking on eBay. It was advertised as a Peugeot 806 idle control valve and fits a lot of Peugeot and Citroen models as well as the Ulysse.
