Just wondered which oil, searching comes up with 5w 40 and 10w 40? which one is right? and semi synthetic or fully?

Thanks Ronnie

Nobody know anything about oil?

I'm considering this as all seem to point 5w 30 but the book says 10w 40 does it matter?

So many threads about oil on here, next to how can I make my car faster this has to be a close second :D what have you been using before? 10/40 would be fine. What you should be doing is to change the oil and filter regularly. I change my oil on my cars every 6 months along with the filter, your engine will like you for that ;)

Lack of information, does it have history paperwork, you could ask the seller what oil was used. In saying that don’t get all worried about “best” oil, just use 10/40 and change regularly as I stated before.

It's a motorhome from 2002, has history up to 34k and a receipt for oil filter change last june.

All the vehicle parts suppliers are showing 5w 40 using reg number, I will look for 10w 40 tho.

Cheers Ronnie

If I remember correctly, my 2.0 JTD 2004 van was originally using a Mobil semi-synthetic when I first got it, used that or about the first 5 or 6 oil changes. Then they(Mobil) stopped making it, so it was switched to what the garage who serviced it used and never had any problems.
