Hi all 2002 2.0jtd Ducato had this problem for some time! Sometimes when you accelerate the power is just not there then all of a sudden it will kick in like the handbrake has been released? I have had the egr vacuum pipe off for a long time it was not that, also the butterfly thing in the intake disconnected via vacuum pipe and more recently the maf unplugged but it was still the same! Only thing I can think is the turbo?

Thanks for any ideas

Ronnie

Hi,

Is the butterfly inlet flap closed or opened by vacuum? Worth checking though I suspect you already have got it right.
Have you plugged the open vacuum rubber tubes- if unplugged and sucking air can affect other vacuum operated functions like turbo actuator.

Apart from the above yes check turbo actuation/ boost pressure. Do you have a scanner that can show live data?

Cheers J

Thanks J

Yes I plugged the vacuum pipes and the butterfly is vacuum

I do have an icarsoft reader but it’s Mercedes specific and just general obd reader for other cars, this Ducato is too old to have an obd port, I did buy an adaptor plug to add to the wires for diagnostics on the Ducato but never got round to try and hook it up

I think you are going to have to hook something up to read live data to save going around and and around in circles.

Thanks J

The vehicle is an x230 2.0jtd. As such it has an OBD port, but not 16 pin OBDII port. An adapter lead is required, and I understand that they can be obtained from Gendan, who are frequently recommended on this forum. On x230 Ducato madels, the OBD port is a 3 way connector with 2 pins used, sited close to the air filter.

Thank you, so I just looked out the adaptor I bought, it has the obd11 connector one end, at the other end it has a 3 pin plug and 2 croc clips one red one black, I have a printout I must have found online that says connect red croc to battery plus and green wire to left hand pin of ecu connector white red wire, the 3 pin connector on my adaptor is enclosed so no wire colours can be seen? I will need to look on the van see if it has this 3 pin plug to match the adaptor.

this is the one I bought www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153070299066?_nkw=fiat+obd+to+obd11&itmmeta=01J799E8NST4KAWE5FNTRZ2B1J&hash=item23a3b367ba:g:sqUAAOSw~Q9bK9eV&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKn9Ss3uor9Pqx1fFYqB4g4HQ7Pg258LuNRbvQxhzf0bO8Q4iteAVUwgsKXtcPo1AU2TIcr3Tktj1j7dCqrRlsjIxwpa8i18epU52%2FzYqLsVptjC5mLo44dU%2FNgV89UFEttwwD0tnSooq%2BWfUSd9vVa7U33Ye2V8yoiEfsBCnF2nLFamc%2FY2zjSPqXPxFdQZiuTunZteMvMx%2BHEZKSv0uw5%2BeuilO8xMkESJpKQwOd%2FQ3WigQeVKEYk6pmBqKY4Kbittr5wCiqokpGhuO5F%2B%2FuVr%2BYUQtASuToU6co7%2FJFhv2g%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABFBM_oq5qbpk
