Howdy all.

Tomorrow, I'm doing my cam belt and water pump.

All genuine parts for 90 quid ;)

As it is the same engine thats in my mates Saab 9-3, ill be using that guide to get a rough idea of getting it done.

Before i take the plunge, has anyone got a guide for the 2.0?

I have access to the Alfa Forums but can only see one for the 159 and not a guiletta.

Cheers!

Chris

Have you tried the Elearn? If you stumblr across one post it up my cambelt needs changing aswell.. where did you get the parts?

I've not got e learn to work yet.

I got down to the belt, its labour intensive to get to it, i wasn't 100% happy not fully knowing if the engine was 100% at zero/tdc so i actually listened to my gut instinct to put it all back together hehe.

The parts i got from Ebay, The belt kit i got on a best offer at £60 quid, that inc belt, tensioner and roller. The water pump was 30 inc delivery. Winner!

Its due an mot next month so ill make enqs with my local dealer to see how much they will charge to do the belt and mot.

2lt diesel service M.O.T and timing belt got quoted £671 from my local Fiat dealer.

Quoted from 3 different dealers and all were roughly the same price. I will put up prices for the parts and what was involved when i can find the receipt. It was for a full 82k miles service not just the cambelt. Was told water pump was not listed for that service and would be the next time it got changed at 140k

I've got the parts already, I'm sure they would fit them.

thats it they want money! If not then they can poke it and ill stick it into my local garage. number 1 on the good garage scheme so pretty good garage.

Im down on the sunny kent coast of herne bay =)

All garages round my way have stopped fitting parts supplied by customers. Even the wee independents.
