Technical 2.0 16v turbo

Hi, is it possible to drive the coupe 16v turbo with a non functioning Turbo, without casuing damage? Will the car function as a normally aspirated 16v. I am looking to buy one and the TC is not cutting in. Thanks

I wouldn't recomend it if the turbo doesn't spool up its just going to act as a dam for escaping exhaust gas and bog down your engine and its quite expensive if it needs a new turbo.

I did with mine when it went, just removed the oil feed pipe and put a vw sump plug in the hole to stop the feed, then diconnected the intake pipes from the turbo so no bits go flying into the engine, or settle in the intercooler, and then just fitted the air filter and a few pipes up to the throttle body

And yes it was very slow, but didn't cause any extra damage, and i could still get around :slayer:
