Hello,

Having some troubles with the electric windows on my Fiat Seicento and havent found anything that might help (yet) on the Forum.

The passenger side window is closed, the driver side (LWD) is 2/3 closed and nothing moves the windows. I have checked fuses and switched out the relay in the fuse box below the steering wheel.

Incoming voltage to the relay is 10.5V.

There are four wires to each of the window switches (see attached: white, lilac, red, black - from top to bottom), same for both windows

Voltage to the passenger side (closed window) 1.72V to black and lilac wires - switch in neutral position. Up down movement of switch takes the voltage to zero.

Voltage to the drivers side (2/3 closed window) 1.72V to all wires but the red. Up / down switch toggles voltage to zero for all wires.

Not sure what to look for next. 1.72V seems very low.

I took a wire from the relay input over to the black wire of the passenger side switch and it sparked (now I have no voltage at all anywhere, so likely have blown something) - but nonetheless, can anyone provide any insight?

Are there other relays/fuses that I might need to check out?

Thanks!

The switches have a +12v and 0v connected to them. They reverse the polarity of the windings to the motor for up and down. No power= blown fuse. Change fuse and swap over switches to test. Most likely dodgy motor.
In mid position, the switch has the motor winding isolated from +v and 0v, so I am not sure where you are putting the probes?

Thanks, have checked the fuses in the main fuse box under the steering wheel - they are all intact. Are there fuses located somewhere else that could influence?

In terms of where I am putting the probes.. from the relay output to each of the wire connections in turn - with the switch in the 'neutral' position as seen in the image (i.e. not up or down)

Temporary solution for now was to take the internal door cover off and temporarily wire the motor to a 12V battery to get the window up.

Would really still appreciate any other suggestions about this. Is the wiring problematic in Fiats? (I love my car, even though its old!)

I had this problem a couple of years ago with a 1108cc SX - One of the wires from the fusebox behind the battery which passes under the rear of the battery tray had chafed through on the edge of the tray.
Spliced in a new section, windows were back in action......

30Amp Maxi fuse behind battery. F2 top row 2nd from left 25Amp for motors. F12 2nd row down 2nd from left feeds relay coil. Relay is 3rd down from right.
Red/black + red/yellow cables +12v feeding pin 5 on switch. Black 0v feeding pin 6 on switch. Pin 1 N/C but same as 0v. Others are motors.
