A very basic question please.

I want to change the vacuum pump.
It looks like - Undo four bolts - undo the vacuum pipe - pull the pump out - put in the new one -replace pipe and bolts.

True or false?

Any hot tips welcome

many thanks

It's years since I did any of those, but they were on Iveco Daily's and I don't recall any major issues removing them, just make sure the drive engages nicely on return and any seals/gaskets are good.
You may get a little bit of oil drop out as it is lubed in that big housing with all the other stuff, power steering pump, injector pump drive and sometimes the oil filler etc.:)

The O ring on the cover looks like it needs replacing (spot the gap)

Now to find a giant O ring.

Certainly looks like you have found the problem.
Did you get a spare pump to rob the O ring from?
If not when I needed several O rings I bought an O ring making kit from Loctite, I was a bit suspicious about it but it has worked and saved me lots of money.
The pump vanes all look in fair order, so O ring is most likely all it needs.:)

Got it back together.
No improvement in suck
Any body know what vacuum these Ducatos should pull?
The reason I ask is mine is showing .35 to .4 bar.
The brakes work fine so whats the problem you may ask.
Well the cruise control which works on the suction pump Has stopped working.
Been working fine for a few years then stopped working.
Done all the Waeco/Dometic tests even tried replacing the complete actuator.
So I'm thinking i'ts got to be lack of suck.
I've just driven back from Spain without cruise control so very keen to get it sorted.
