Hi Guys,
I bought a 1974 Fiat 500R on a whim in Italy last summer and it finally arrived. Its wonderful and makes me and my kids smile whenever we look at it. I bought a lot of parts with it as it was being sold by a mechanic and I had him put a big set together for me.

I can only get it to run for 5 minutes or so and then it dies. The symptoms are eventually I cannot feel any power when giving gas and it is near dead. I can keep it alive with more choke but it doesn't go anywhere and eventually dies. After 10-15 minutes it starts again. In case it matters, I live on a hill/incline and I am only driving it close to home as I cannot get any original paperwork from Italy due to the virus and have no plates/registration/insurance. Due to COVID-19 I don't want to go to a mechanic and I figured this is a fun project for me and my boys. ...but we have no experience. I wanted to put this out to the group in case you know what I need to do.

We checked the air filter and the closed side was ripped off, we changed to a new one.

The guy in Italy speaks no English but has been helping me through whatsapp using translators. First he had me change the fuel pump which I did, that didn't help. He told me the rubber hose connecting the gas tank line and the fuel pump needs to be replaced, it's bulging.

I think he was thinking I need to adjust the carburetor but then he told me to change the spark plugs. I have not done either yet. Not sure if the spark plugs make any sense and no instructions on the carburetor.

Any ideas for me? Are there any threads on this issue?

Thanks!!
