Hy, I wanted to ask if on my current rims (the standard ones on Sei Sporting Abarth with 175/50 R14 tyres) some 195/45 tyres (Toyo Proxes) will fit?
Do I have to enlarge the wings of the car?
The new tyres will affect my car's performance and acceleration?

I have tested on many online tyre calculators and the only notable difference is the 2 cm width of the new tyres.

i run 195/45/r14 tyres on my Cinquecento without any issues, aren't the standard alloys only 5.5j tho, so a bit narrow for 195 tyres.. they're a stretch on mine at 6j

1. Did you used wheel spacers?
2. Did you had to enlarge your wings?
3. The wider tyres rub against the wing interior when cornering?

the wheels are ET38. I have 15mm spacers on the front and 8mm spacers on the rear. I have no modified the arches. The tyres do not rub on the wings.

you do have a few things to bear in mind here:

1> Arc drives a cinq - the arches are different to that of a sei.

2>Standard Sei wheels are too thin for 195's - 185/50/14 is about as big as you can go unless you change your wheels for 6j wheels...

As long as you're careful with the use of spacers there's enough room to fit 195/45 & 195/40R14 tyres in the rear arch without any problems, GoBe runs 195/40R14 on a 6J ET24 rim & I run 195/45R14 on a 6.5J rim without any issues. GoBe runs on standard rear disc conversion so that will need to be taken into consideration but I have a custom rear disc bell so my offsets are meaningless.

I can't find 175/50 or 185/50 on my 14" rims here in Romania... it is so weird. I know this is a rare size but... The only tyres available are 195/45/R14 ~ 75 euro (Toyo proxes). I will search more, maybe I will find some 175 or 185 tyres with low profile.

By stretched you mean that the rim is wider than the tyre width (195 mm)?
What is 5.5j and 6j? Rim width?

5.5j and 6j are rim widths in inches.

my wheels are 6" wide, and with the 195 tyres you can see that the tyre is wider than the wheel, it "pinches" in around the lip of the rim. I'm not sure a 195 tyre on a rim that is another 1/2" narrower is a good idea.

Ok, so for 195 I'll need bigger rims (in width). Then I have to look for 175 or 185 tyres because I don't want to change the rims now and I don't have the money for that, there are ather things (technical problems) that needs to be fixed at this car, prior than rims.
Thanks for the answers!

PS: Is this setup ok?

Do you have a winter and summer tyre season in Romania? If yes, you might and have to wait a few months. 175/50 and 185/50 are summer sizes - in Poland they're quite hard to find in winter, but when spring comes more and more companies start to offer them for sale.

Yes, we have summer, winter and all-season tyres. I never seen 175/50R14 winter tyres... the most apropriate dimension (for winter tyres) that I've found here was 185/55R14 Matador MP58 if I remember correctly...

No no... what I meant is do you change tyres for winter? In Poland we do, as far as I know the UK doesn't (most people). If you have a winter season, the tyre shops will be selling mainly winter tyres during this time. When spring/summer comes, they will start selling summer tyres. This is probably why you have such a hard time finding the 175/50 or 185/50 tyres. For winter I would suggest getting a set of 5x14 (or 5x13) wheels and thinner tyres.

Yes, we have a winter season and the drivers usually swaps summer tyres with winter tyres in December. But, I stay 95% of the time in the city, where streets are cleaned (only wet asphalt) so it's not a must to change tyres (my case).
