Hi All,

Has anybody got a 127 1050 sport head for sale? i know they are pretty hard to come by!

Got an standard 1050 ohc but i'd like to have more than the standard 50hp before it goes in my A112 :)

Also any tips on tuning? not massively clued up on engines and wanted to use this engine to learn more!

Cheers

Anthony

I gave a couple of complete 127 sport engines to Gavin a couple of years ago (can't remember his username off the top of my head).

However, I think there may be a flaw in your plan. The 127 sport uses the OHC engine. Isn't the A112 engine an enlarged version of the 903 pushrod unit?

Yes but i got told that i would be able to swap it for the OHC unit as mine is the same 903 OHV thats in the 127?

Is it not possible?!

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to swap the engine for an OHC version. Probably fit the 5 speed box too. But I've never seen it done.
You might have to slam the bonnet a few times to get it to fit :D

hi, I know yours is an old post, but I'd thought I'd give it a go. I have a Fiat 127 GT which belonged to my late Dad. I was hoping you could put me onto someone who's as enthusiastic about the GT as my Dad was to buy it?

many thanks,

I know this is an old thread but I now have those two engines off Gavin!

I ended up scrapping the 1050 ohc idea and set to work on my 903 engine i would of rather found the 1050 abarth engine but i know they are a pain in the backside to find and even when i do find them i get out bid!

So at the moment I'm just finishing putting it together with my dad should have it a 63hp so almost at the 70hp i was after!

I put the 1050ohc in classifieds if you know anybody that may want it? It's all working and has a few spares with it!

Can't imagine they'll be a lot of difference between 63hp and 70hp.

Mines a mk2 127 with the 1050 ohc.Got hold off a 1300cc engine from the mk3 127 GT and also the 5 speed box and put them into mine.Engine's a straight swap but had to modify the inner wing to fit the box. Also had a twin carb off a 1500 x1/9 on it and it was quick!Could never get it set up right and then the engine started drinking oil like a fish (but not leaking).Ended up putting the old 1050 back in but kept the box and got another carb off a 1300GT.

Got the two sport engines and the head should be a straight swap, the one head doesn't look to bad so I'll give that a go when I've got the time.Be good to hear what sort off performance you're getting when your up and running.

I don't think i'll bother with an extra 7hp for the time being unless i want to go 70+ anything is nicer than the old 44/45hp i originally had! I'll let you know what its like when i get it back just waiting for it to come back from the paint shop!

I thought i would have to do the same thing a straight swap for the engine and for a 5 speed box just have to cut the inner wing. I think the problem was i wouldn't actually be able to shut the bonnet but i just thought its more hassle than i can afford at the moment!

I brought a 34DATR off a X1/9 as well but everybody i spoke to about it said it causes a lot of problems. So i ended up buying a 32DMTR! Eventually when my funds are in my favour i want to get the Alquati manifold for my engine that fits a weber 40 dcoe and get it setup on a rolling road.

As it stands the current changes to my 903 are:

Everything taken apart polished and cleaned etc
High lift cam - 274º
Kent Cams uprated valve springs
New rocker cover that has the correct intake for a twin choke 32DMTR
New Exhaust system 4-2-1 Manifold, Straight centre pipe, and an Ansa Twin pipe muffler

Theres a few small things to finish like cleaning the Air filter box but here are some photos of it check my gallery for the whole thing.
