1242 16v wont switch off!

Hi All,

I have just bought a 1242 16v Panda.

The chaps in the panda forum suggested I ask here too as you guys are more knowledgable on this conversion.

Once the ignition is tuned off the car continues to run perfectly with the battery light showing. I have chaged the steering column today hoping it was the ignition switch but this has made no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start with this?

has it had any sort of remote start kit put on to it at sum point or a monkey messing with things it dosent know whats its doing??

No remote start kit.

It did switch off at first by turning the key back towards ignition on position which lead me to believe it was the switch but I have changed this and it made no difference to anything.

Any ideas?

In an older traditional car your initial thoughts are probably true. In a more modern car then I suspect there is another power switching relay/control in the ignition path.

I think you need to look at the vehicle electric schematics to see who and what could be involved.

Not looked on this site but a workshop manual may be available, failing that soembody reading this may be able to provide a schematic and/or more advice.
