Hi,

Can anyone tell me how much play there should be in the flywheel? I have about 1 cm, that feels like much, but I don't have a clue what the tolerances are. Some hints would be very much appreciated, as my car is in a thousand pieces in my garage, waiting to be put back together.

That sounds like a lot to me, given the flywheel is rotating at up to 4k that's not good.

Are you sure the flywheel is located correctly as I'm struggling to understand how you can have 1cm of play. Are you measuring this using a dial gauge on the outside of the flywheel or is the movement fore and aft, i.e. is the flywheel out of true across the inner and outer faces (assuming this is a dual mass flywheel)

The flywheel is mounted properly, as it's done 150 000 km without fault. The play is the sideways play between the outer and inner part of the flywheel.

I found the answer i was looking for, so to anyone else with a possibly faulty flywheel on a 115 JTD:
Max. Clearance Angle [Degree] 20
Max. Sideplay [mm] 2,9
