Hi again,

Im thinkin of selling my 1.4 SX for a newer bravo and there is a 2000 JTD for sale near me, took it for a quick test drive one day only about 5 mins seemed ok.

Just wanted to know what you think on the JTD what car say it has a cracking engine returning over 54 mpg and having more pull and power than my 1.4 (but i wasn't that impressed)

I ahd a look at the engine running, the outside temp wasn't that cold and there was a bit of steam/smoke puffing out from the air filter, is this a bad sign? (never had a diesel).

So if i get it, has anyone ever fitted one of those tuning boxes to a diesel which are advertised in Auto Trader?

Let me know guys.

Gareth, the 105 JTD is one of the best Diesel engines out there and powers one of the fastest Bravos on the road. You also get good economy. There should be no smoke coming from the air filter; if there is, I would reckon the engine has been damaged. If you don't know anything about Diesels, bring someone with you who does-unless you love hardship.

Tuning Box

A tuning box will give you around a 25% increase in power. I had one fitted to my JTD last summer. Unless you thrash the car there will be no drop in MPG.

I've had no problems with my JTD engine - just the usual electrics fun and games which plague the whole range.
