Does anyone know why when all the electrics (seem to) work, but the engine won't start (no sound, nothing)?
Battery is not flat, radio started to play on its own accord when trying to start the engine...
Never happened before, the car ran beautifully yesterday, have half a tank of fuel, had a major service last week (and passed MOT)....
HELP!

Check the main fuses under the bonet.
Does the key light on the dash go out ?
and does the lighting of the dash flicker when you turn the key ?

Hello,

you say no sound - so does the starter click (clunk) or does the engine turn over ? If there is a clunk the solenoid is probably working, but the starter motor may not be. try giving it a bash with a hammer (while keeping key turned to start position). If there is no sound at all, check the connections on the starter..they may be loose.

Owen.

Thanks for your replies!

The AA man found the problem:

A NEARLY flat battery......

Who would have thought of that, 1 week after a major service.....
