Well, today i have had my stilo 1 year (y)

my time with the car has been great, even though its had its faults and problems

this time last year i was at the same garage have just been at filling up with fuel (it was a bit cheaper back then).

in the time ive had it the following faults/problems has occured:-

july - fuel gauge stopped working, went back to garage about 3 times before a body computer was fitted - warranty

july - car cut out in a flood (thanks van), car was started and luckily still driveable without the turbo and water damage for sometime before it righted itself

august - gear linkage went - warranty

october - intercooler air hose split - £80 :(

also had in the time ive had it, new tires fitted at the front £115 a corner for bridgestones, a 3rd year service and mot (at about £320) :)

12k miles on on the tires, and they still have a good 4-5mm of tread left on them, and the rear ones are still alsting fine :D

ive done little bits to the car myself, such as getting the window blinds, fitting the abarth scorpion badges, and some of you may remember the italian coloured stilo badge? its been debadged now, ive also resprayed the exhaust.

i hope to in a few months if i can get enough pennies together, maybe fit a sub and get a remap (cant lower because of working issues ).

i still get looks of people as i drive through town with the roof open, probably thinking either a) what a tit, or b) what car is that :D

i also love the fact i have the only italian car in the works car park  (and probably the best looking);)

i look forward to another year or two with this car (y)

p.s. this forum is great and I LOVE YOU GUYS

is this a tribute thread??!!

Josh, you have read the rules yes...

...this is a MOANING only forum :p

i've had mine 1 year and a couple of months now and i love it as much as the day i picked it up.

only problem was the dreaded spring snap, but i was planning on lowering anyway, and a glow plug. done about 12k ish (y)

as opposed to a FEW of my mates who have golfs that decide to eat their gearboxes or have imploding sunroofs

im just really happy with my car :D

i forget to mention the £26 for a centre cap as well

all in all though, its been relatively reliable (y)

and now its summer, i can get a tan on the move :yum:

Hello JFL,
As a point of interest what car did you have before the Stilo ?

i forget to mention the £26 for a centre cap as well

Sorry, how much for a centre cap!!!

If its for the 17" blade/fan/razor or whatever people call it wheel, thats EXPENSIVE!

I got one from my dealer at a modest cost of £7.29 + vat which totals £8.57. He couldn't find the part number originally but he phoned up fiat and was very helpful indeed and i have the part number if anyone else needs a new centre cap.

Then again, yours are the darker coloured wheels so maybe thats why...

Congrats on the happy ownership (y)

I've had mine a little over 2 years and not been as lucky as yourself in terms of reliability. I reckon though that a lot of that, if not all is down to the dealership ripping me off big time. Hence why I'm only getting my servicing done there for the book, MOTs shall be done elsewhere and all else shall be attempted by myself. And then probably a qualified mechanic :p

...as opposed to a FEW of my mates who have golfs that decide to eat their gearboxes or have imploding sunroofs

Imploding sunroofs???? Tell me about it... In Feburary i spent 1500euros :bang::bang:replacing mine!

Stupid WEBASTO...
Stupid but great!:D

And since you mentioned the "driving tan" you should see my right arm after my last summers trips... (left hand driving position = right arm exposed to the sun. Greek sun is hotter... believe me!)

Its obvious why you went form the Corsa to the Micra, but out of interest why did you go from the Micra to the Stilo?

Porbably not the 1st time I've asked, lol.

Jon.

hmmmmm, micra wasnt me, was a bit dull and boring, and had a womans/old persons image about it ;) (was quirky mind)

stilo on the other hand, sat there with its more powerful (and economical) engine with the skyroof, huge wheels, abarth bodykit, and gorgeous looks swung it for me :D

the astra club which was the contender for the car wasnt nowhere near as nice

i think the stilo is probs for people a lot older then myself, but hey, im happy with it and dont get called names anymore :p (except for maybe when i overtake people)

the center cap would be £8 if the wheels were standard alloy silver, got the antgracite colour to thank for the £20 markup :(

I recently passed one year of Stilo ownership at the end of March, love the car and have defiantly found this forum informative and helpful!
Touch wood ive had no major niggles so far and after my long search for a set of claws im loving the wheels now! Just need to get two new tyres for the front and maybe a spoiler and ill be set!

The cost is relatively low... You need the Alfa's 147 CC stick... and some wiring. (In Greece ~50euros)
As for the knowlege, i believe that you 'll be able to find some kind of DIY guide 'round here...
