Technical 1.9td Reverse Lights Not Working

Hi,

If any one can help as it is my first post,
My reverse lights have stopped working,
i believe it is the switch mounted on the gear box,
as they did once shortly flash on, meaning a contact problem.
I believe I have located it but I am not to sure,
as Haynes don't go into much detail on it! (no photo's either)
and they don t do one for a deisel (no i dear if the gear box would be different on a deisel to a petrol)
the thing i believe it is. is mounted to the rear of the gearbox
to the left of the gear lever mechanism, am i right!
if not where else would it be!

I have exactly the same problem on me 1.6 at the moment, except I haven't got a spanner big enough to take it off.

The switch is on the front of the GearBox, as in the cars grille and head lamp front, and is towards the right sort of underneath the battery tray, it is on my 1.6 anyhow.

On your Gearbox there are two wires that run off it, one is the speedo (this is sort of on top of the gearbox towards the dashboard side and the other is the reverse light (towards the front right underneath the battery tray if your battery tray is the same place as mine)

Just look for the wires, you should see em they are quite long.
