Hi guys,

after buying a 1.9D with a broken belt, I changed the bent valves and skimmed the head. I aligned the timing marks and fit a new belt.

The problem is that the car does not want to start. I know that there is a solenoid valve, but how can i test it?

This is the presumed valve.

Please help as i need the car urgently.

Thanks.

Ryan from Malta.

Valve tested but car still does not want to start!

Please help!!!!

I haven't done a compression check, but when i opened the engine, pistons seemed in excellent condition and as i said the cylinder head was re-built!

I re-built engine myself, and aligned marks present on engine for timing belt fitting.

wouldn't the valves go onto the pistons if timing is incorrect?

No, you can have a few degrees each way without piston-valve contact. If the belt goes or slips too far then yes the engine is interference - as you unfortunatly have found out.

Hi guys,

i just wanted to inform you that the problem was that there was air in the fuel injection system.

I bought one of these hand pumps, installed it on the feed line to the filter, removed the stop solenoid valve, pumped the hand pump a couple of times till all the air was expelled, re-installed the stop solenoid and the car fired!

Thanks a lot for trying to help Hellcat.
