Hi,

I am having my clutch replaced (broken slave cylinder at 107,000 miles) and would like some information because the job is taking far longer than I expected. The dual mass flywheel is not being switched at the same time

The mechanic who is fixing my car claimed that that there are three alternative clutch kits (3 piece, including slave cylinder) for my specific model, that he got the wrong one and because of that the whole thing has now been delayed for several days.

Another clutch specialist stated that there are are two alternative clutch kits and the correct one depended on the dual-mass flywheel used in my car. They would have to order in advance based on this, but didn't explain how they were going to do so without getting into the engine (they are based 20 miles away and had offered to do the clutch in one afternoon, so no time for instant ordering.).

Finally a local Fiat dealership and parts supplier said that there is no problem at all ordering exactly the right clutch kit (they were happy to do either own-brand or cheaper aftermarket). They said that this was based purely on my registration number, which in turn gave them access to the chassis number (which I obviously have in any case in my V5 document)

Does anybody know who is telling the truth here?

Many thanks in advance.

When u replace clutch also the slave cylinder must be replaced u can buy the parts yourself from shop4parts they supply original parts at good price and next day dilivery! Parts should cost you £100 plus labour.
