Hi ,i am having a real problem getting hold of a set of injector seals .I have been to my local garage and he said just pop along to the fiat dealer and they will do them ,they don't keep them and don't seem to know what seals are required anyway they seem to think that there is only a copper washer ,is this correct ,so i would like to know exactly what seals are needed .....'O' rings or copper washers or both and where i can get them, a link to a site would be great .Another member here has supplied the size of the copper washer but getting the damn things is another matter .

I have a 1.9 elx jtd

thanks Martyh

Have a look on eper - link is at the top of the page.

I checked it out for my car (a 2004 JTD round nose) and got the following page:

It shows the part number for the gasket to be 46518716. Unless you've got a multijet diesel (only fitted to the square nose Multis) I would think the gasket will be common to all JTD's, but don't take my word for it!

cheers ,that's the same diagram that the dealer showed me and it clearly shows the o rings 5-8 that they say don't exist ,so i'm still very confused

I've been trying to locate the parts for about 2 weeks now but no one seems to know what parts i need ,some people say i need 2 o rings per injector and 1 copper seal per injector ,the dealer says no o rings just copper seal ,i tried shop 4 parts and no response ,so i am at a loss as to what i need , what i realy need is someone who has actually done the job and can tell me exactly what parts i need

Should point out that the part number shown ,when googled is for a fiat injector heat sheild ,so using the part numbers does not seem to be an option either

Have you seen this thread (I'm being lazy - it's the first hit on google:D), especially point 8 of the 6th post?

http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-159-brera-and-946-spider/276037-injector-correction.html

I think they're talking about the same engine - the part number is mentioned further down the thread.

Blimey. The old ebay link on the same thread still works! Do these look familiar?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-1-9-DIESEL-INJECTOR-SEALS-X4-/280634570248?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41571fb608#ht_500wt_1156&clk_rvr_id=384033062419

And I'm liking the bit about 2 stroke oil. I could make my Multi smell of fried bacon (memories of Shell Sport R and a mispent childhood on 350LC's.....)

Excellent ,that is what i need ,it makes sense as Alpha and Vauxhall(general motors) use the JTD engine as part of the failed merger deal a few years back .It also appears that rubber O rings don't even come into the equation so why people keep on telling me i need them is beyond me all it does is serve to confuse the issue

,once again many thanks

Martyh

Hold on to the thanks until you've proved that it works - all of this is based on what others have written about working with other parts on other cars! This time next week my name could be mud....

You only need the (small) copper washers mentioned above.
They are very inexpensive, I got four of them for free at my local Fiat dealer, I realy needed only one....!!

Getting the injector out is another story....!!

You could try a Bosch Diesel service centre, if you google Bosch Diesel service you can find your nearest one.

All decent Fiat (or Opel/Vauxhall,Saab, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Cadillac) dealers will have those gaskets in stock.
The 1,9 jtd Diesel engine was ( is) used in many models and makes....
And yes, the injectors are Bosch Germany, so a Bosch service should have them too...!!

now you have the part #, any of the above dealers can order it for you.
1-2 gbp for the four of them...no big deal.

cheers ,as i said above ordered now ,£4 of ebay with the correct number so i'm a less frustrated man .Who'd a thunk that 4 copper washer would be so much hassle to get :(
