The dipstick on my 2007 Doblo 1.9 always withdraws covered in oil. It's impossible to see where the oil level is. Am I alone with this issue??

Model
doblo 1.9
Year
2007
Hello,

I'd say it standard. Check the oil level once it settles down in the engine. Take out the dipstick, wipe it with a cloth or paper towel. Then insert again til the end and take it out to read the level. Finally you can put the dipstick back.

:D

You're supposed to wipe it first !! , dip again then read ;)

To be fair i used to have the same problem with my 1.9 Sedici, didn’t matter how many times you removed and wiped I couldn’t get a clear reading, especially if engine still warm. Found it easier when engine was stone cold in the end. Still took persistence it you didn’t get a clear reading first time though!

Ahhhh... from this I gotcha (I think)

Yeah I've had a vehicle once where you had to do several clean and dips before you got an idea where the level is, cos the stick got contaminated on the way down the tube.
I thought from the OP's first message he was expecting it to read without wiping - my bad (hopefully)

Might be the OP wasn't wiping at all, but yes, might be that the dipstick is getting dirty everytime he's putting it in place.

I haven't has such a problem in any of my cars, but I must admit that the actual daily needs the dipstick to be taken out and cleaned 2 - 3 times. In the previous one, although an earlier model of the same manufacturer, I always had instant reading.

Appreciate the response, but I do know how to read a dipstick. Always comes out covered in oil...

You're a dipstick. I've been reading them since before you were born. This one always comes out covered in oil

It was the way it was typed , no big deal

It could have been interpreted either way if you read it back ;)
We're reading it at this end not knowing the author and his skills (or lack of) whatsover
