I have the above problem, which is a little intermittant. It passed an mot last week without ant emission problems but is not doing it all the time.

Dead injector. It will need a new one, no other way to fix it.

??

is that a dead cert or a guess ? Are they easily accesible ?

Re: ??

Dead cert, they are a bit of a bitch to get to but its all in the haynes manual.

Re: ??

Thanks Tom, I will have a go. As it seems intermittant (the car has been stood for about 6 months) is it worth reseting the ecu ?

misfire

if the injection light is coming on then its a sensor fault or wiring fault the light wont come on if a injector is blocked

misfire

my apologies tom but a misfire is generally due to ignition timing ie sensor coil leads rather than a fuel supply problem

Re: misfire

I've only had the exact same thing happen 3 times on my 1.6, each time it was a dead injector.

Light constantly on - sensor/wiring fault
Light flickers on acceleration - dead injector

I worry if you think a missfire can't be caused by a fuel problem... no fuel = no fire.

misfire
