i'm having troubles after cold start of my Stilo 1.6 (2002) : after starting normal (cold engine / weather) the engine suddenly dies alter driving a few meters, activates the MIL and stores a P0105 fault (MAP sensor).
Just by revving the engine up to 3-4000 rpm i can prevent it cutting out again.
After revving it for about 30 seconds the engine keeps running and doesn't cut out anymore and runs fine during warm-up.
After i changed the sensor for a new Marelli sensor(had one as a spare part) the fault re-occurred the next day so i guess the fault is not caused by the sensor itself and is related to the temperature.
Although i found a few posts with fairly similar symptoms i didn't find a clear cause nor a solution for this problem.
Does this sound familiar to someone who had the same problems and knows the cause and the solution for this annoying problem?
Thank you in advance for your help !

P0105 tends to get hard stored and it ignores everything about the MAP thereafter

Maybe you've done some of this already but this is what I would do

Try clearing the code so you reset the engine data.

Then turn ign on without starting and wait 20secs and turn off-wait 10secs while it stores the data for ambient pressure
Then start engine but don't touch gas pedal, no air con, let engine warm up, once it has, turn engine off so it stores idle air pressure

Then see how you go

If you have the gear to be able to trace MAP v rpm v throttle position etc then see if it looks right or are there unexpected jumps or flatline

It's so cold out there that it could do with a relearn of what is required for these sub zero temps.

Mine starts brilliantly in the cold but after a minute of idling it just stops, I think that's when it's changing from open loop to closed loop and it's just not used to these cold temps. I see fuel trims go from big positive just before it dies to big minus after the restart so it's confused with fuel required and can't make the transition without dying away. After that it's fine for the day. So i'll need to do a relearn on mine too

thanks Decks for your fast reply , i guess it won't be until the weekend before i can try your suggestions - searching the forum it seems a rather common problem on the Stilo 1.6 but i think it can't be pinpointed to a single cause.....
I will keep you informed , thanks again!

well, tried to reset the P0105 fault code and relearn the MAP sensor (and throttle body) but that didn't solve my problem - the next day the engine stalled again after the cold start with the new MAP sensor.
I then checked for proper ground connection, engine loom wiring problems, battery, spark plug or coil problems but all seemed o.k.
I then checked the throttle body , it was rather dirty inside.
After a proper cleaning and lubricating of the butterfly axle it seemed the problem was solved, i did several cold starts without any stalling problems until now and the engine seems to run smoother too.
I have to test it for some more (cold) days but i guess cleaning my throttle body solved my P0105 fault problem!
I will let you know if this definately was the solution in a few weeks, hope it can help other members with the same problems!

Yes that'll be good to know if that cured it. A P0105 can be triggered when it compares throttle valve position ie how much air is supposed to be going in compared to what reading for the intake air flow is coming back from the MAP. If these don't look right on a number of occasions then it triggers the MAP fault
