Technical 1.4ie fuel probs

morning all

hoping someone can help with prob i having with my 95 reg 1.4ie fuel system.

it start fine but when come to pull away, engine stalls. i end up having to revs the nuts off the thing to get moving, then car shudders and judders a lot until about 30mph when things calm down a bit.

have found that when car is shuddering that things get bit better if i come off the throttle a little and only accelerate very gently (much to the dismay of the queue behind)

car has just had a service with new plugs, leads, etc and had wiring checked but all fine.

it has been suggested that it may be a blocked fuel filter, if so, can anyone tell where it is as cant find it to date, or if anyone has any better suggestions

Long time since we had a tipo (1996) but we had the fuel filter block twice wirth symptoms just like yours. Our garage suspected dirty fuel from tesco and there was probably still dirt in the tank after the first replacement- whosr tank I couldnt say .Cant remember where the filter is but on ePER you should find it.

on mine the fuel filter is down the left hand side of the engine bay towards the back. easy enough job to do just make sure you release any pressure in the fuel system, otherwise it comes out like a fountain lol. just open the filler flap before you begin. buy some redex and put that through as well, make sure the injector is clean etc.
