Hi,

Just wondering what this problem (if it is a problem) could be.

When I start my Bravo it turns over a few times and then starts. The car starts ok but i'm just wondering why it takes a few turns to start, it just sounds a bit crappy.

It has just had a full service, new plugs, oil filter etc. I was wondering if it could be the starter motor.

Cheers

It's called general wear and most cars do ;)
there's probably nothing wrong with your car!

Thanks for reply. But is their no way of sorting it. I was told it could be the starter motor.

It just does. Live with it. Or go by an old car with a carb and a manual choke and you'll soon realise just how quickly your bravo starts :)

It takes up to 2 turns for the ECU to synchronise itself to the engine. Add in some wear and it takes a while to build up enough compression to fire.

Unless it is actually slow cranking then theres nothing wrong with the starter. What's your battery like?

If it turns very slowly or doesn't turn at all then the starter is at fault.

But unless its taking several seconds to start just live with it.

Battery is newish (Says the guy I bought it off). I asked the person I bought it off why it sounded funny when starting, and he said it had always been like that. Oh well, like one person who replied, just live it.

Lets say for instance your car is slow starting and you want it sorting, you would have to check....

for cracks in the head,
leaks on the head gasket,
worn rings or scored bores reducing compression,
injector fault
the list goes on....

Just leave it. ;O)
