1.4 brava engine needed.....help!

hi all..just bought a 1.4 sx brava R reg..needless 2 say i wasnt told about the engine just about packing in!!...now need an engine 4 it can any1 help?...i've tried the scrappies but cant find any under £200...has any1 got 1 cheaper?im in Fife, Scotland and any help would b very much appreciated... if u can help pls email me [email protected]

hi stephen thnks for your reply i bought the brava at the weekend it was sat not driven as i had to get insurance changed over. once it was coverd i started to drive it and a noise was comming from the engine well i aint no mecanic so i took it to a garrage and they told me tht its the camshaft and been advised to change the engine phoned round some srap yards and the cheapest i got offerd was £200.

depends how much wear has taken place? you need to clean the oil spray bar, (pic 1)

you need to remove this and give it a good soak in petrol or white sprit..

once this has been done a good oil change is needed.

refit spraybar, new oil, new oil filter, should stop the screaching noise!

as you can see the camshaft had some wear but passed it mot fine with no problems

check that the crank shels are not scored if they are fine drain all the oil down and flush the engine then fit new camshaft and clean the spray bar as described.

if the shels and crank are scored then get a new engine.
