Sorry, but this is not correct. Without a thermostat the engine will take longer to warm up and in a cooler climate like we have in the UK may never get to reach its optimum temperature. A cool running engine will be less fuel efficient and less powerful so it's most certainly not best for the performance of the car. Remember that the engine is designed to run optimally at around 85 degrees for a reason, and that's also what the thermostat is designed to maintain.
i fitted a second hand thermostat, and my temp guage sits just below the half way marker, so i hope this is right?
water pump still leaks but that is going to have to wait, it only leaks when its not running and only for 15 minutes or so, it takes about a week to go from max to minimum so il get other things sorted first, clutch is all done though
