Hi all,

So I am finally taking the step to increase my GP. I was just wondering what induction kits people recommend?

Obv the BHP increase will be little but i was thinking of getting a GSR if they are still available if not what others do people recommend.

Obv I would like im not gunna spend alot as its a 1.2 but just wanted some general advice on what people recomended. Any ideas Magic?

You wont see any difference no matter if you spend £10 or £200, so i suggest buying a second hand BMC filter off ebay and making a custom intake that sounds half decent.

If you want more performance think more about weight saving, rear seats/interior/race seats and some super lightweight alloys will do much more than an induction kit

How would I go about making a custom intake and is ebay the only place to find a second hand bmc filter?
Many Thanks
Ben

the filter can be any brand, it doesnt matter what make yout filter is, they are all exactly the same, I would say when you buy a filter, dont pay more than 11 or 12 pounds for a filter.
http://www.auto-performance.co.uk/index.php?cPath=37&osCsid=u8nosst39fihgc1qkic6u9etr4 thesel be the same as a bmc filter, plus this company sells all induction silicon hoses to (y)

Yes you will see an increase if you put a GSR on. Proven on many rolling roads. BMC wont gain you anything.

Of what bhp? 1? 2? for the price its not worth it. And a properly set up enclosed air filter with cold air feed will perform better than a cone filter stuck on the end of a piece of silicone tube

No idea how you managed to construe that from my post, but ok.

What I meant was you can go on one RR and it will say you've got 100bhp, and you can go on a different RR and it can say you've got 110bhp.

Differences the lower side of 10bhp are impossible to prove.

So your telling me you can gain 10bhp on a 1.2 from an air intake alone?

:nutter:
i think rr is rolling orad, so he is saying that the tolerance of the rolling roads are +/- 10bhp, so you may have 150bhp, but one rolling road may read 140 bhp, whereas another one mya read 160bhp. i think thats what he means anyway

Ok sorry about that, didnt get the gist of what you were saying. Although it is a valid point that just because a GSR was RR'd to have more bhp doesnt mean it does in real life

ok so how would i go about getting a GSR induction kit? who should I PM

Thanks Percyhahn all done hope it dont take to long for him to get back to me.

Was also wondering about exhaust systems i have seen one on JCR Racing which is nice but was wondering if anyone else had fitted this or knew about them?

Does when they are back to back runs from standard to GSR. I dont need to prove anything to you, i know plenty of people who have GSR kits on their cars who have had other stuff like BMC's before who have gone on to get better gains with an open filter and GSR. GSR's in the early days used to be sold with BMC's but on testing the power gain difference between the open filter and BMC was negligible so Peter went with the open filter. What experience/research have you got/done into 1.2 GSR's to know if they are any good or not?

what was the power increase on the 1.2 then Matt? And also how much do GSR kits cost? I used a BMC as an example of an enclosed air filter, i used open filters on previous cars and had better on road performance with an enclosed filter.

I have a BMC panel in mine and a cut out of the bottom of the air box towards the wheel arch to let a bit more cold air in and i got a gain of 6hp and smoother revs

this is on a 1.9Mjet
