Hi all
We have a 09 qubo 1.3 multijet with 40000 miles on the clock, wife drove car to petrol garage, put some diesel in, on starting the car the engine now sounds like a tractor.
If engine is ticking over it`s a deep thumping sound, it sounds like it is coming from the air filter on the right hand side.
If you rev the engine the sound changes as if it has a worn tappet.:bang:

Any advice appreciated before we take it to the fiat dealer.

Many thanks

Robert

Hi Qubo

Diesel was put in the tank, apparently noise was already there when journey was started but got louder as car was driven.
Have my suspicion that the cam chain has got slack, as when engine revs rise so does noise, also when engine has warmed up not as noisy.
Starting to get fed up with this car, brought from a Toyota dealer 10 mths ago have already had front suspension mount bearings replaced, these have already started to make rattling noises again, we have only done about 4000 miles since these where done, car now out of warranty.

Hi luigi

Not sure if they are the redesigned ones, one side was changed about 8 mths ago and the other side about 5 mths ago, I have just listen to the engine and it sounds like air being push out from somewhere, wondering if the manifold is leaking.
Car starts and drives fine, no loss of power or smoke.
Want to keep the car dam cheap on fuel and tax, I have a petrol mk2 ulysse getting expensive to run, £20 of fuel only covers about 70 to 80 miles?

Update, car is at fiat dealer, injector seal gone, replacing all four injector seals to engine hope injector come out ok, fiat dealer have quoted £300.00 all inclusive so not to bad.

Hi all

Bad news on the qubo, unable to get two injectors out, will now require two new one, not best pleased, bill for the work is going to be around £970.00 ouch!, bloody cars give me a horse and cart anyday.

Morning,

No way to know if you have had this car from new, (just spotted you purchased 10 months ago from a Toyota dealer), or if you have always had it serviced by Fiat..................but if the answer is yes, to either or both................then contact Fiat direct, and raise a case of complaint about early failure of a major component...........believe me they are very very good at helping out Qubo owners.

Mine is also 09 reg, and they have recently paid out best part of £1000 to replace my power steering rack assy, they paid 100% of the parts, 100% of the labour, 100% of the VAT..............I paid zero.

You will need your dealer to back your case, so quality of dealer is also important........

Good luck.

Take care, Qube O..:cool::cool:

Hi Robert,

I would still give them a call, its a 'free phone' No, so even the call would cost you nothing, just 5 mins of your time.......and the worst they can say is 'sorry, we are unable to help',.............though on the other hand they may offer to at least help with a ex gratia payment............worth a try..........

Go for it........

Cheers Qube O.

When i worked for fiat we had all the ''special tools'' we never had to borrow tools from another garage,to my knowledge is is no ''special tool'' for removing stubborn injectors,we did an overnight soak in rostoff and heated around the base of the injector to expand the ali around the injector and removed it in the normal way.

At least it sounds like the dealers are trying to get the injectors out, rather than just saying 'nope, can't do it, 900 quid please', so fair play to them for that.

See if they can get the last injector out and if they can't & the bill subsequently rises, do give Fiat a call (00800 3428 0000) & see what they reckon.

They sent me vouchers to the value of the full bill when the front springs snapped and damaged a tyre on my (then) 6yr/60,000 ish mile Stilo. It was long out of warranty in terms of age & I bought it 4 years old from a non-Fiat dealer but they still offered the vouchers. It might've been because of the safety issue of the springs snapping, but it might also be because i'd owned two Punto's previously & told them so in the email I sent - I can see you also have a Ulysee and judging by your user name, have owned a Multipla?!

If you wrote them an email mentioning your loyalty then that might do you a favour. I think it helped in my instance & has also helped Fiat in the longer term as the Parents went out & bought a brand new 500 TwinAir a year ago & I plan to replace my Stilo with another Fiat or an Alfa - neither of which would've happened if Fiat had been awkward when I contacted them.

Worth a try if the bill looks like going over £500, or even if it doesn't.....they can only say no!
