HAAAYYYYYLLLLLPPP!!!! (cried Penelope Pitstop)
She's big, black (well, grey) and beautiful..
She's a 2.0 jtd eleganzinio...
She's calling to me from the dodgy sales lot...
"She's got an engine problem Sir, but she DOES run.." sez the slithery salesman...
She's got a flat battery...
(the deal is done)
She's mine...
She's now got a NEW battery....
(teeth are gritted...drums roll...the key is turned...)
She's turning over....
(no joy)
She's in Economy Mode!
Hurrah, does that mean 75mpg? No? MORE????
Oh, I see. It means the electrics are playing up.
Is it because the battery was changed?
Or could it be because someone on the design team thought that, for a joke, they'd position the scuttle drains above the fusebox AND the ECU!!
Hilarious, lads, nice one :bang:
Could anybody tell me which fuses to clean/wiggle to reinstate the a/c, radio, windows, mirrors, wipers etc etc?
Or is it all controlled by a central box of expensive tricks?
Any help would be gratefully received.
:slayer:

Had same problem drain plug had fallen out so all water was running straight into the fuse box in engine bay, I got an auto elctrician to do mine but the diagnosis was the water had wrotted the fuse board in engine bay, pretty easy to do it yourself a couple of push on connectors and a couple of bolts hold it in transfer all fuses to new box if they are ok otherwise replace. No programming or anytrhing was required, the fuse board is approx £100 on ebay, including fitting mine was £250 alot cheaper if you do it yourself Hope this helps

Hello
This might sound silly what i am going to say, we have a petrol ulysse elenganza and had to put a new battery on it, after installing the battery, car would turn over but not start, noticed the time and date was flashing on the screen so i set this to the correct time and date after doing this the car starts ok.

Thanks alot for reply, yes my fusebox does look extremely crusty, the plastic grate which I guess holds the rubber drainpipe on is missing on the drivers side, and the fusebox lid was loose ( perhaps from someone diagnosing before cutting their losses) so a new board is prob a must.
Very interesting to hear no resets needed, I thought you only had to give these cars a firm stare and they would start spouting fault codes!
It's early days but I have to say the design detail (witness those drains) and build (9 out of 10 seem to need new interiors!) of these later sevel family vans looks appalling compared to my old 99 synergie TD, which was no Mercedes, but is still 100% working even after being used as a student union taxi for 5 years, then as a workhorse by me for 6!
Thanks alot for your help

Hi, thanks for your message, doesn't sound silly at all but I am unable to input any info eg clock reset, my dash display has an overlaid message about emergency calls being disconnected, says BEEP BEEP BEEP and goes blank again.
My fusebox is under a broken drain, fuses look crusty and the only elecs working are the dash warning lights, ignition lights, mileage display pod, courtesy light system, hazards, sidelights, high beam flash only, and central locking.
Everything else is being, um, french...?

Had one of these, nice car but........ design flaw of the scuttle allowed screenwash fluid to settle on the head and corrosion effectively welds the injectors in!!! Spark erosion? The only way to get them out... Found out later there is a Diesel Guru in Swadlingcote who has developed a "Heath Robinson" contraption that can remove them. I hope your Elegenza can be cured of its poorlyness and becomes the vehicle it always should have been.

Fantastic, sounds about right!
Thought I'd try replacing the crusty fuses under broken drain just in case it made any difference!
It did - car now says "sorry" and some gobbledygook like "system invalid" before shutting down as before!
" stop *@#%ing about and do the job properly" I hear you all jeer.
New fusebox it is, then.

Such a shame these cars and plauged with silly issues. I recently "upgraded" from a MKI to a MKII and spent a few weekends fixing all the neglected problems - LCD screen not lighting up, main blower not running, etc.

The only issue left is some times the driver's window will not shut - it starts going up, then goes down again! But I kinda like that quirk in a funny kind of way.

Car is running well now, we love it, but I am always on tender hooks waiting for the next problem....*clunk* *clunk*

I have a 2003 that has no display on lcd screen below clocks the cable goes down but i cant trace where too can anyone help please
