Technical 03 multipla boot problem

Hi all.
On my multipla the boot won't open unless you have a second person to open it for you. The button near the handbrake works as should and you can hear the boot mechanism open and close everytime but isn't long enough timewise to open it also can't open it with the key as won't turn in thelock. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mine is like that as well, I thought it was normal (well normal for a Fiat)
I pull the lever, walk round the back and stick a piece of card in the half gap, then pull the switch again and it will open.

Nice little trick, I might try that one thanks. I was thinking of fabricating a small push spring to hold the boot open save the messing. But just asking if it's a common thing with a good fix

Mine was doing that but I got a latch mechanism from the scrap yard and it's working ok again.

When I operated the switch I could hear a whirrrrrrr as the latch opened and a second or two later I could hear another whirrrrrr as it returned to normal.

Problem fixed.
