Hello Guys,

I’m new here and I know close to nothing about cars but i’ll try my best to explain what’s happening, hoping that you can help.

For a month now, my 2011 twinair 500 has been doing an intermittent rattling noise when I drive, and for at least a couple weeks I was unable to find the problem. Until I opened the hood with the engine running and found (what I think is) a metal fixing to hold the engine air escape had split in two and was clashing against the body of the car when the engine was working.
It’s not really a dangerous thing, as I can see that escape holds itself in the air, but it’s just VERY annoying when I’m trying to focus or listen to music.
Ever since, I’ve been trying to look up online what that fixing is called, and where to buy it, as it really does look like a 10 second repair, really. But I’ve been unsuccessful so far...

I have attached a couple pictures of twinair 500 engines like mine so I can point out what it is and maybe you guys can help me find a solution.
(Funnily, in one of the engine pictures I found online, they seem to have had the same problem, only they have removed that fixing almost completely...)

Tell me what you guys think!!

But why the rattle.. what is loose?

EDIT: The rusty bolt hole in thd background.. has a supporting part dropped off??

It rattles because the part that’s attached to the car broke, so it is still attached to the hose, and when the engine is working the hose shakes and the aluminum piece spins on itself, constantly hitting the metal body of the car and the hood.

Hi, :)
without having the car of werdna parked outside..;)

I would summise that your part COULD be this;

have a trawl .. and see what you think...,

got a CLOSE-up pic so we know HOW it has fractured / failed

( if it's part of the hose assembly..a repair may be cost-effective.. rather than a @£50 hose )

Charlie

Thank you so much! I believe it’s the part 5 on the diagram you sent... but i’d have to buy the entire Air intake Hose. So I’ll run down to my local bodyshop and see if they can make something that could replace that metal piece for less or see if its even worth fixing!
But thank you again for all your help!
