make it hard to engage gears?

was just stripping daughters 1.4 16v Idea for new clutch as she was having trouble getting it into gears, but have just noticed rear box mount is shot to bits, could this be the problem and not clutch?

i did think it was a bit soon for new clutch as it only has 46k miles on it

On the old rod boxes I think it can. When you say difficult to engage what do you mean? Its it only since the colder weather (although not that cold atm) has arrived, and mainly when cold this occours?

no she had it for a while and just before xmas when it was quite warm she rang for a tow back from asda said she couldn't change gear only drive in first if she selected it before starting engine, i just towed it didn't bother to test it myself. yesterday i got around to testing it and i could get all gears reverse crunched. i should have a mount they are the same as mk2 punto but cant find it, i don't recall selling or giving it away :bang:

I think it'll be clutch, too.

Happened to me on my old mk2 wasn't the clutch the light casing had flew off and lodged itself behind the gear linkage lol!

clutch was worn had help today so managed to get the box out, couldnt fit new clutch though because little clip on bearing had broke off, took it back but no more in stock, so have to wait till next friday now before some one can come lift the box back in

strange motor factors given me a full refund as reckon cant get another clutch kit, it was A QH one.
