i am thinking about fitting my own cambelt and exhaust centre box and rear box to my 1.6 dynamic. i have changed cambelts on past cars but never a fiat. are special tools really neccessary. i would appreciate any tips from anyone who has attempted these jobs themselves.

If you make your own timing marks BEFORE you take the old cambelt off and don't move anything whilst you put the new belt and tensioner in then you can manage without the alignment tools.

Move anything and you're stuffed and will need the shaft locking tools.

Garages who don't know what they're doing will often put out a cambelt by one or two pulley notches when they're replacing it

Exhaust is simple to change as long as you have plenty of room underneath to maneuver and as Decks has said you will need camshft locking tool to hold the cams in place while you change the belt dont think I would fancy trying the dots on cam sprocket way cos knowing my luck something would move also when changing the belt buy the kit which has a tensioner and bearing with the belt Pt No S4P1909 and £58 from www.shop4parts (y)
