2.4 electrical issue => fuel gauge "reset" light "reset" increased milleage live ..

Hello,

I wanted to share, abarth 2.4 selespeed from 2001 with ~100 000km

For the past few month I had sometimes

=> fuel gauge reseting to 0 back to level
=> A clic from relay in the same time
=> Main light (by night) going off one within 1sec

And more recently when that occur, I saw milleage increase each time by 2km

The problem was once a week at first, then more often .. I changed the battery because .. you now if you have an abarth ... that could be the cause.

Nop, still a problem, then it became a lot worst, after a few research on internet / forum / here and then ...

I changed the 5 coils and problem is now gone for the past 6 month (yeah I waited to be sure before posting)

Thanks internet (and people sharing experience)

Unfortunately that's a feature of all modern cars, not just the Abarth Stilo .

Reminds me of a story I read in the 'Audi' magazine a long while ago about a duff V8's auto box which would only select 2nd gear, and wouldn't change gear other than by having someone in the passenger seat type type a command on an 'Audi' Laptop plugged into the car. Apparently it turned out to be a faulty brake light switch which gave the ECU a 'braking' error which then told the Box to shut down to safety mode, which was 2nd gear only. So a £5 VW/Audi switch cured the problem, although god knows how much the diagnostics cost .

Anyway, excellent information for anyone else's car which has the same symptoms. It's good to know you're a capable man who has solved it, especially as I intend to move my Abarth for permanent residence near Tarbes very soon, and a knowledgeable man not that far away could be a big benefit :D.

baykah I had same problem too, I didn't changed 5 coil's because only one was faulty according to multiecuscan, and the problem has gone, remember after some time I hade exactly the same problem maybe worst also headlights were cuted off for some sec and after checking with multiecu all coils were ok, but I realized that one of spark plugs were causing that pb, I replaced them all and until now everything works well :) !

Hey good information !

My plug were close to new, iridium ones, so when I changed the coils I took a look to them also (I'm was running 50% E85 on stsock injector, so I wanted to see the color)
