Hi all,
I have to install a rear view camera ( in licenceplate holder ) in my Stilo 3 doors.
Because I have to lead the two cables through the rubber grommet into the car I have to remove the two plastic panels at the inside of the tail gate.
Does anybody know what is the best way to do this without destroying everything ?

Thanx so far.

Greetings from Holland.

The way i did the rear view camera install on my car was using wireless transmitters (they cost around 10~15€ and worth every penny) and got power from the license plate lights.

The only downside is that you need to have the lights on for the rear view camera to work but that way the install was quick, easy and without having to route multiple cables all over the car.

cheers.

Thanx for the tip.

But the cam is connected to my Android head unit and if it gets the power from the lights the cam is always on at night so I cannot do anything else on the radio .

Not necessarily, mine only activates when the reverse gear is on.

On the floor next to the driver seat find the wiring loom and look for the wire that gets power when you put the car in reverse gear, connect that wire to the reverse wire on your android head unit and the camera will activate only when you shift into reverse.

btw, i also have an android head unit which one is yours?

cheers

That's what I mean. If I take it from the lights it's always on. I take 12 V from the reverse lights so it's only activated when in reverse gear but I agree with you I can also take the power from the wiring loom in the car and use a wireless rear view camera but such a cam still needs power to work right ? Only the video part is wireless.

I have a Joying head unit DE-JY-UM124N2 1024 x 600 for almost two years now, it's perfect for me.

Both the camera and the wireless transmitter get power from the license plate lights

Hi MyNameIsHate,
So just to get things clear.
The transmitter is fitted inside the car and has two connections : Video and 12 V from reverse gear cable from the car.

The camera needs only one 12 V power ( in your case from the licence plate lights ).

Maybe I don't understand, but than it's working only with lights on ?

As far as I know the rear wiper has also a constant 12 V in the connector ( or maybe over the ignition switch, that does not matter ) to make the wiper go back if it's switched off ?
If so, better use that one ?
