Hi All,
Just got a second Stilo Abarth with selespeed (last owner gave up on it and gave it to me for free!) however it has a few issues that I have not been able to figure out..

Issues:
- Cannot select gears, while car is off and running (up until a few weeks ago forward gears worked and reverse could not be selected).
- Errors displayed on dash, rain sensor and light sensor failures (issue for years).
- Cannot connect to the "body computer" with multiecuscan (can connect to gearbox, no errors).

I have had a pretty good look over it:
- Battery is good, 13.6v when running.
- Selespeed pump primes when door open, stops after about 10 sec.
- Selespeed pressure above 40bar.
- Selespeed DOES change gear when gearbox calibration is run within multiecuscan!.

I am thinking it may just be an issue with the gear selector in the centre console, has anyone else had any similar issue, I had a good look though previous threads and could not find anything.

Finally pulled it apart, does appear to be the joystick at fault.

Also found that the gearbox defaults to 1st gear when the joystick is not plugged in!
Managed to drive it around in auto mode without it.

The was a whole lot of oily residue underneath where it was mounted, anyone got any ideas on where that would of some from?

Opened it up, the plastic tip of the selector rod had almost totally broken off.
Oil residue was the grease inside coming out.

We put a hole through the middle of it and drove a nail through (had to grind the tip that stuck out off).

Superglued the plastic back together so it should now be stronger than new.

Issue resolved!

Do the sillyspeeds in these Fiats not have any steering wheel controls?

In the Alfa 156s they had steering wheel buttons and the 147s had flappy paddle shift. I would have expected the Stilo to have flappy paddles like the 147.

Still, well done on fault finding and resolving your issue, hope you enjoy the selespeed fun.

There are paddles (although in this car they are both broken off) however they cannot engage any gears from neutral, only the gear stick can do this.
