Hi...I've got 2003 stilo and the remote key stopped working so I bought new battery and it's still not having it. I can lock and unlock manually. I've had it 9 yrs and love it but so many things are starting to go wrong :-( is there anything I can do or will I have to be stung at a garage? Looked in manual and it says about a code card, but didnt get one when I bought...
Cheers in advance :)

Do you have another remote key to try ?
Does red LED flash on remote your trying to use for locking to show that no problem with battery fitment or charge ? even though is new battery worth checking.
You could try dis-connecting main car battery for 30 min to see if reset of car computers helps.
If all above do you no help then would be that the remote code is no longer stored in car computer system for it to recognise your remote when you press one of the buttons.
And yes then you would require a garage fiat dealer to have your car relearn the remote code plus the price of electronic's security code a 5 digit code that in uk is not supplied unless requested and varies in price mine was £45 over the counter at fiat dealer. plus garage would then charge a labour fee on top.
I added another remote to mine ,bought the electronic security code and used multiscan software to set it up, though you would then need to purchase the software/cables and code

Thank you mhowse, I only have another manual key, and I bought a 2 pack batteries and both and my old key battery led light up, so will give the car battery idea a go in the morning. Thanks for your time and see how it goes tomorrow. ..after over 10 yrs of blipping your car when your arms of full of kids and bags in the rain, it seems like a petty but very annoying pain in the rear haha

Yep days of changing telly channels with long stick are long gone..gadjet world today.

Try dis-connecting car battery for 30min to reset car computer ,though is just a shot in dark but worth a try and does fix car electric problems sometimes but not always.

If it still does not fix it you may be able to come to an arrangement with someone from this forum who has a registerd version of the multiscan software and cables to plug into your car and relearn the remote code for you, though you would still need to get the electronic 5 digit security code from fiat which they do over the counter while you wait.,using the software it actually only takes 10 minutes at the most to go through the procedure .
If it came to doing it that way it may be best to start another thread on here and asking if someone could help you out with the software and let folk know which part of the country you are located, you just have to get used to opening the car with key between ya teeth for time being but sure to be fixed in end :)

Hello, i had same issue few weeks aggo. When the key battery went too low the key has been "forgoten".
You need fiat ecu scan, elm327 and your key code card with the unique password on it. With ecu scan you can re-associate your key and your car.

You will need a registerd not free version of Multiscan software and yes elm that connects to correct module you may have to modify elm adapter or get cable set suitable for multiscan on ebay or somewhere like that online.
Yes code is called Electronic security code and 5 digits long only from available from fiat usually in uk do not know about situation in France,,..NOT the metal blade key code number which starts with a capiltal letter.

And Yes with the electronic code and registerd paid version of multiscan and correct elm cable you can use multiscan to relearn the rmote to the car.

Same thing in France.
You need to pay about 50 euros (as long as I can remember) and they give you the 5 digits code.
NOT the metal blade key code number which starts with a capital letter.

Thanks a lot to the forum (did not find this information on french forums): I've just purchased the licence for MultiECUscan and re-associated my remote to my Stilo.

Drive safe;-)

Just wanted to confirm cant you use the free version to reset fob? I have an ELM cable and it was throwing error. I bought the cable from this chap

Is there any quick method to diagnose whether its a dodgy cable?

When my Sister's Stilo did this a few years ago, all i did was insert the key into the ignition, turn the ignition on, and press the buttons on the remote 3-5 times. Turn off the ignition, and then press the remote button. Started working again.
