It seems that today i've had my first warnings on my Stilo; i was sitting at a traffic light and i was quite bored, i wanted to get something out the back so i leant towards the back without taking my foot off the brake and thus aplying much more force to the brake pedal and suddenly... "beep beep" ABS failure "beep beep" ASR failure "beep beep" ESP failure and finally ASR off.

I switched that car off and then back on and sure enough the warnings had dissapeared. Now, this wouldn't really worry me in any other circumastance (we all know what Fiat electronics are like) but i started thinking; what if this were to happen when i have to brake hard??? If this happans while i was stopped it could just as easily happen in an emergency!!!! (n)

Hi ya, Same thing happened to me when i slammed the brakes on at a round about except i got the gearbox failure as well! (would only work in manual, would'nt work in auto mode) then engine system failure all on top of the ASR/ABS failure in one hit!!, Took it to the dealer and they fitted a new pedal box/switch assembly now it seems fine, Quite a common fault i think.
Hope this helps!.

i seem to get this fault every time i turn the ignition on but dont start the engine, when i do turn it on it seem to give any reading possible, just put it down to fiat and not dogggy wiring, but so special that it is very imagiantive!!!! we all should be so proud of this special wiring that keeps us entertained, just imagin ow bored the owners of vw's get without seeing warning lights on their dash, i bet they are all so jelous!!

It's 100 percent caused by a faulty switch operated by the brake pedal - it's a very common fault on selespeed equipped Stilos particularly (but not exclusively, as you've found out) and Fiat garages should

know this.
