if my engine light comes on again for another stupid fault thats not there when i check it i swear to god i will smash every panel with a pickaxe. front passenger side got smacked this morning by a driver that scarpered while i was in the shop, the bloody coil spring broke the week before and i hit a traffic cone layed down in the dark a week or two before that. it's amazing i owned a merc that i never had a bump, scratch or brakedown in and that thing was a 1991, i buy a newer stilo and it must be the unluckiest car on the planet. i may well take the damn thing and get it excorcised.:cry:

just plugged obd in to clear fault and it is showing p0420 bank 1 catalist efficiency down, any help would be apprieciated, it shows this fault every 400 miles or so but car runs great with or without engine light on. i have been through my stilo with a fine tooth comb and replaced so many parts to get it right. i just wish people would stop running into it now.:(

Do you do a lot of short journey's?

Short journey's prevent the CAT being cleaned properly by a special engine cycle every 400 miles(I think).

Your cat may be blocked or faulty. Try taking it on a 1 hour motorway journey, keep the speed around 70mph as much as possible, it may clean or clear the cat and solve the problem ..

Put some quality fuel in first, BP, Shell etc. supermarket fuels are crap ...

thanks shady, i use a 99octain every second fill up but do tend to do lots of stop start runs during the week. would you recomend a cat cleaner? emisions on car are fine though, if it's just par for the course i have to clear the codes every couple of weeks then so be it. thanks.

our old mondeo used to have cat problems, i used to take it on the dual carriage way at 70mph in third to get it nice and hot every now and then, the engine management problems stopped after i done that, a long hard blast is what fiats really need - have you ever seen how the Italians drive lol.
