Hi all,

As I know you are an industrious lot I wondered if any of you had ever changed the standard Dynamic JTD orange clock set to one of the Abarth items?

I have spotted these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-STIL...CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb937886b#ht_1626wt_905 but wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the colour screen?

I am fitting a Connect Nav + to the car next weekend, retrofit as I picked that up for a song too ;) and thought this would finish it off nicely!

Any thoughts or pointers would be ace!

Hey Shadey,

I saw that post and saw about the fading screen, shame we never got a resolution on that one but to me it appears to be linked to voltage (presumably jump start voltage was higher?).

I was wondering if anyone thought the screen would work or not?

If we dont have much of a collective idea I might take a punt on them and see, would be great if they would work!

MZ successfully installed and configured(proxi-alignment) an Abarth instrument cluster into his car so it can be done. Unfortunately his Abarth cluster suffered some sort of hardware failure but I dont think this was because they were transplanted into a different car, they were just faulty IMO.

Ah, now i see!

I have had a little investigation and can see the need to change the body computer and add the node on - if I havent got that perfect I am not exactly the model of clarity with this!

Interesting question but does this mean that with the Connect Nav I could add that as a node using the FES and would this alleviate the need for the delay relay???

Also, how easy is FES to use? I am seriously considering obtaining it as we now have 3 Stilos in our family plus maybe a new Bravo soon ;)

Cheers

I'm no expert with the way the Stilo CAN system thingy works but as far as I know the Body Computer(BC) is the main part, the central brain of the system. Whenever a part(NODE) is removed or added Proxi-Alignment is needed so all the NODES including the BC are configured correctly. So FES should be able to configure the Connect Nav NODE to the system plus remove the old radio NODE from the system.

I find FES is quite easy to use and well worth what I paid for it. With so many Fiats in your family I recommend to purchase it.

Interesting! Do I take it that OBD-2 lead is all thats required plus the software from http://www.fiatecuscan.net/ ?

Cheers

A good OBDII cable plus these adapters.

This thread has got me thinking about fitting the Abarth dash cluster to my JTD now. Not neccessarily for the MFD but more because the kilometer/hour scale is much more visible. I drive more in Europe than in the UK and can't see the km scale on my standard cluster when driving.

Apart from the problem of the MFD screen backlight fading away that's been reported by several people with no solution, it also occurs to me that it's unlikely that the Abarth cluster would have provision for the glow plug light. This may constantly give a glow plug circuit or warning light failure error code, and/or message.

Anyone know if there's provision for a glow plug light on the Abarth cluster? or have any thoughts on the possibility of a glow plug error without it?

Interesting issue, I hadn't even occurred to me! sadly my last clock change was on a Peugeot 205 so I simply reused the choke light, this is more difficult I fear!

I am really tempted to try it, knowing I now need to proxy align for the CN+ so I will let you know how I get on!
