Hi my car engine wont turn off, have to stall it to stop it.
it reads an engine fault and car security failure. i was under the bonnet before hand as and dropped something through so tried to grab it and as i did i think i may have nudged a wire and it started making electrical noises and now its showing the above faults! Help!

Do you have any fault codes handy?

Might be worth going back under the bonnet to see where you nudged the wires before and see if you can make sure any connections there are tight again.

dont have any codes sorry, dont have a reader thingy. have tried to look at the cable. the noises were coming from the fuse board above the battery. im panicing as i only got the car today, washed and cleaned it all and its going wrong!

Did you use a power washer in, around or underneath the engine bay fuse panel? If so then the fuse panel is waterlogged and you'll need to dry it out or wait until it dries out itself.

didnt use power washer, did it by hand a few buckets over the body work and nothing under the bonet.

Even throwing a bucket of water into the passenger side wheel arch is enough to splash up underneath the fuse panel but if you're sure there's no water gotten in there then I would disconnect the battery and carefully remove and replace fuses and relays one at a time on the fuse panel and underneath the fuse panel is the D4 connector (See Stilo Guides up above) which connects engine bay to inside car electrics so I'd disconnect that, inspect it, make sure it's all bone dry and reconnect

will do that tomorrow, i just hope i havent bought a lemon :( as i said only got it today and really like it, done a little trip about in it, had abs fault on it earlier too but switched off and on and it cleared.

ok, no more car security failure, but still reading an engine fault but turns on and off ok and actually goes off now. so is it me? is it the car and do i need to buy a engine code plug in thingy ?
sorry for my vagueness, new here, new car.

The engine fault may be connected to the earlier failure (particularly if moisture was involved)...try starting and stopping the engine 3 times - if the fault is no longer there, it should clear. If it does remain, some other suggestions can be made :)

Deckchair5 has given you very good advice IMO, just wait & see, if you still have problems in a day or two just follow his advice. (y)
