Hi guys,

The nearside headlight bulb went and so Mr Bing changed it by removing the battery etc. After reconnecting the battery, not only does the bulb not work on full or high beam, the indicator in the same cluster isn't working properly when the light is on full/high beam but works fine when the light is on side or off. It clicks like mad from the inside of the car (not sure that's relevant or not).

Also, the windscreen wipers and the fan no longer work.

Any ideas on what the problem could be caused by?

Thanks,
Helen :)

I would go straight for earth point C10. Look for the black wires and they should lead you to it. It will look the same as in this diag.
Need to undo the nut and take it off, clean up the electrical contact points and refit

Hi Helen,

Something has obviously been touched and is now disconnected. The fact that the indicator is clicking like mad indicates that there is either a failed bulb or a broken circuit along the way.

Thoroughly check to see if any cables are loose, disconnected or slightly pulled. If everything checks out, it's safe to clean the contacts with contact spray and try again.

Hope your problem gets solved.

Thank you both so much for your help and for the diagram. It's very much appreciated. :)

Thanks to your advice we checked the connectors around the battery and lights and discovered a loose connector. It turns out that when the plastic cover over the battery was refitted after changing the bulb it knocked a black connector which became disconnected so we just pushed it back together. Simples!
