I am sorry if this post has been answered before, but I could not find a thread for it.
I have an 03 1.8 16v stilo multiwagon 88k on the clock.

I have had no issues with the vericle till today, comming off the motorway I went to change down from 5th to 4th, but could not, the gear lever would not select any gears, it was however moving in all directions.

I pulled up onto the hard shoulder, switched off the engine, and ran through the gears, after a short while I found I could select all the gears.

However once back into 5th I found I had the same problem when I came to change down.

I don't know if it the gear selector which has gone, or if the issue is with the gearbox itself.

Can anyone help

If your geachange is getting stiff when the engine and gbox is getting hot through higher speeds but then improves as it cools off then first thing I'd check is your gearbox oil level
