Hi everybody, I have been lurking in these forums for a couple of years, this is my first post though.

I have just had an epic struggle fitting a new EGR valve to my Stilo '53 1.9 JTD, and unfortunately I snapped a pipe of from another part. What makes it even worse, is I have no idea what this part is. I think it is something to do with fuel return. Can anybody identify it for me? Thank you in advance for your help

Thats the fuel cooling/heating tank, basically fuel is pumped through it to stabilise the temperature of the fuel. Its held on by two long bolts (10mm head size), not normally a part which a dealer would have in stock as it doesnt normally cause any problems unless damaged by a tech (or owner).

Thats brilliant guys, thanks a lot.

What website did you find that part number on? Thats the same part I was looking at on ePER and it says the part is 46818882. The number you gave me is the correct on though I think

No, mine is a very pale green colour. there are quite a few in Dunstable, I see them going to work everyday. I saw a dark blue 3 door the other day, it must have been yours

Wouldn't have been mine. it is Jet blue which is a lighter blue same as the punto sporting. i will post pics up soon when i have got the suspension done. if you ever need a jtd for reference for parts or comparison let me know and i will try and help

Picture shamelessly stolen from Hitby's album as it is identical to my car. Thx Hitby:)

Actually i do remember seeing a pale green one about 3 week ago in the centre of leighton at the roundabout near halfords one lunchtime.

Hey all

Not quite an engine part but more an engine bay component, I did not want to start a new thread so I hijacked this one :p
I was having a quick wonders yesterday under the bonnet of my car and came across this part which was attached to my air box intake pipe:

Can anyone shed some light on what this part is? I could not physically pull it out but this box was very unsteady

Most likely a resonator to remove some frequencies or sounds in the air intake. If it is partly detatched (ripped off) from the pipe, it means unfiltered air enters the combustion chamber - dirt with it. You could rip it off, put a plastic cover over the opening, superfix it and clamp it together again.

Hi there Morty and thanks for your reply (y)

So this box thing was meant to act as a sound resonator? Bloody hell that is weird, the exposure that the box has left from being detached did not seem to leave a hole in the air box intake pipe. If it has then I will attempt to patch it up, mind you it should still be ok as the air still has to bypass the air filter in the air box right??
