So I really wanna buy a FIAT Stilo, my budget means that i will have to buy a 2002 model. But I am confused, what are the differences between the Active and Dynamic models? From what I gather the main difference is Active is 1.2, and Dynamic is 1.6. According to my insurance company they will not charge me anything different regarding which vehicle i choose. So here I am lookin for advice as to what model i should choose. Oh i'm going for a three door by the way :wave: ! If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it! Ta

The Stilo 3-door Active comes with the following features as standard:

* Front foglights
* Black electric heated door mirrors
* Electric front windows
* Body coloured bumpers with black inserts
* Black side rubbing strips
* 15" steel wheels
* Split folding rear seats
* Height adjustable driver's seat
* Height and reach adjustable steering wheel
* Front seat-belts with pretensioner, load limiter and fastening sensor
* 3x3 point rear seat belts
* Three height adjustable rear head-restraints
* Isofix hooks for child seats on rear seats
* Puddle lights on front doors
* Dualdrive electric power steering
* 1.4 95BHP engine
* "My Car" personalised setup
* Trip computer
* Digital Radio/cassette player with 6 speakers
* ABS with EBD
* Remote central locking
* Fiat CODE immobiliser
* 4 airbags

In addition to the standard features offered in the Stilo 3-door Active, the Fiat Stilo 3-door Dynamic comes with the additional features as standard:

* 16" alloy wheels
* Front armrest with storage compartment
* Leather Steering Wheel and gear lever
* Rear Spoiler
* Brake Assist
* Stereo with Single Slot CD player
* Heated/refrigerated glove compartment
* Body coloured door handles
* Space saver spare wheel
* Sport seats
* Air Conditioning

Go for the Dynamic if you can ;)!

Active can be a 1.2 or 1.6 with the 3dr body, Dynamic is either 1.6, 1.8 or 1.9 Turbo Diesel (JTD).

Most of what black JTD says is true, but as a 2002 model the Dynamic does not have the leather steering wheel, brake assist or C.d. player. The Active does not have the 1.4 95bhp engine either.

Check the insurance you have been quoted is for a 1.6 Active or a 1.2. If the premiums are the same it will probably be the 1.6, so the 1.2 might be a saving. From what I can gather, the 1.2 Active with the optional Air Conditioning (there are quite a few that have it fitted) is not much slower than the 1.6 due to the 6-speed box. Much more economical too.

everyones assumed 3door so far but I dont see you saying if its 3 or 5 door so i'll stick my 2p worth with the 5 door dynamic.
ok, got a 2002 Dynamic here, but its a 5 door, which spec wise does differ from the 3door. Ours does have Brake assist for one. Has auto wipers and auto headlights, The headunit is tape, but you can get an autochanger from the fiat dealers for it.
No alloys either, but thats not an issue, and considering what ive seen happen to one of the plastic wheel trims so far when she had to avoid a driver on the wrong side of the road, i'd of been drying if that was alloys.
The 5 door also has rear ajustable seats as well, but not sure if this is a dynamic and above feature or is also on the active.
Im also led to beleave that the suspension settings are different between 3 and 5 door as well, with 3 door more firmer while the 5 door a little bit softer.

when it comes to insurance, it would be cheaper for me to insure the Stilo 1.6 Dynamic compared to the 1.2 brava :eek:

this is all great help, i hope to go and look at a car tomorrow (Saturday). In the add it's listed as a 1.6l 2002 Dynamic, having the alloys, alarm and immobiliser, the cd player, front spots(????), and the panoramic sun soof. Only 19k miles aswell. So it seems pretty nice, will keep you all informed!

Well I went out shoping yesterday and I think i've got me a Stilo. My mechanic is going to look at it tomorrow and if all is well i've done a deal. It's a 2002 Dynamic, 3 door. It's the dark navy colour, metalic paint, 5 disc cd changer, panoramic sun roof, alarm, 16" alloys, 19k miles, 1.6l. It's pretty clean a two very minor scratches that will polish out. Am really happy and hopefully with everything going to plan i can do the deal tomorrow (Monday). So i just wanna take this chance to thank yo all for the advice and information i got. It was very much appreciated and a great help. Ta

Well done................................

sounds like you got a good deal.

Did you go to a garage or privately? How much are you paying for it if you don't mind me asking?

Well done for selecting the three door, real Stilo enthusiasts only drive three door models!

Finally, make sure it's had all it's recalls and had all recall work carried out, your FIAT dealer should be able to tell you this from his database. There were several recalls prior to the 04 model and although they were minor jobs you'd still like to know it's been done under warranty.

I bought it through a dealer but i'm still having my mechanic look over it today just to be sure. What were te recalls, was totally unaware of that??? It cost me 9850EURO, thats about £6780, which is very good price in Ireland.

Looks like the recalls were 2003 models only, hope I'm alright. How do I register as a CLub Stilo member.
