You don't need a torque wrench to remove spark plugs, just a normal spark plug socket.

to remove and insert new ones with 27nm torque as the manual says :)
Plug sockets are universal? any plug wrench will remove every plug?

PNL, yes that one seems nice but that still needs the wrench ?

I really love my Ironside socket set with spark plug adaptor. It has a rubber grommet that works like a plunger that sucks the plug up after it's unuscrewed - and inserts it nicely.

You don't need to worry about correct torque. Screw anti-clockwise until you feel the click. This means the plug's threads are in the correct positition on the cylinder head. Cross-threading will cost 1/2 the price of an engine at the breakers. Then screw clockwise until you feel it tightens. That's about it. Give it a little more (90°) and they are fit in place. Use some WD-40 on the plug's threads before inserting.

when putting plugs in don't use a wrench just the extension piece and plug socket, do it up till finger tight. then put the wrench on and quarter of a turn will be fine. the heat then expands the spark plug thread into the head thread even more.

Mort,

i dont know of any car/motorbike spark plug that tightens anti clockwise and clicks.

probably just dodgy translation lol

it doesn't "click" but you can feel if you are sensitive to that kind of thing when the thread beginnings meet up as the spark plug rides up the thread then "clicks" down to the bottom of the first thread ready to be screwed in....avoids cross threading...i have a £4 halfords spark plug extractor on a 1ft extension with a lil rubber grommet inside that grips the plug, i do it finger tight then "a bit more" to get it seccure...never had a problem yet and done many spark plugs.....

See MZHUSSEIN's great explanation where I obviously came too short. They don't click with a ding-ding-ding noise. You feel the click within your hand, transferred from the threads when they "interact" perfectly.

And yes, finger-tighten, then install ratchet and do about 90° more.

Hi

What kind of tool is needed to remove abarth spark plugs?

Ahh... Your original question was only about removing them.

Theoretically, every nut, bolt, screw (and spark plug) on the car should be torqued correctly but I've never known anyone who uses a torque wrench for spark plugs.

Use any of the methods described above.
