My son just passed his theory test this morning :D and he is now looking at what he can do with this Stilo we bought a few weeks ago, its a 1.2 active in a light metallic green I know one of the members here has a Stilo in the same colour but I cant remember who it is, I was hoping there were some pictures to give him some inspiration.

He is talking about a respray and also getting rid of a few minor bumps here and there and he got a quote for £2000 just for the respray, but Im sure I have seen posts here where its been done for much less.

I will add some pics later showing what needs to be done. Any ideas, inspiration and personal experience would be much appreciated. Just keep in mind that it is only a 1.2 and we dont want to do anything that takes the insurance through the roof, so nice subtle touches and esp any pics of a car in the same colour as he is talking about getting it sprayed blue and I think it can look just as nice in the colour it is right now.

Bit of a swings and roundabouts situation here I think Fee..living in the smoke can cost you dearer compared with living up north for an instance..but there are those people in London no doubt than can do you a good job at a fair price you might want to ask around friends and neighbours on that one .. personally I wouldnt change the colour because you wont be having a full body respray job done no doubt and if thats the case then the green of the original colour will still be seen when you open all the doors/boot and bonnet and to me that is plain fuggly :yuck:

I'm looking in to having mines resprayed and the cheapest I found in my area was £1000.

I totally agree he should keep the colour, it would be a much cheaper option too, one of his friends suggested that tidying up the bumps, tinting the windows and putting black alloys on it would suffice. I dont mind taking it to someplace north of ripoffland if the price is right:)

Was that to get it sprayed the same colour it is now?

I'm not sure to be honest. I just assumed it would be £1000 to have any colour. I popped to the local body shop and asked how much they'll charge to do the entire car and they had a look at the car and said a grand.

Mines has very small scratches all over the car and touch-up paint wouldn't suffice. Not so much noticeable at a distance but does sure annoy the hell out of me.

I'm still deciding whether I should go for it or not. It is a lot of money for something so minor.

elkyelky take a look on detailingworld.co.uk if you get a detailer to do a full correction on your car will get rid of all paint oxidation, swirls, scratches, marks, blemishes and restore your car to show room condition for inbetween £300-£450. Id say £1000 is a good price for a full repsray sounds a little to cheap to be honest but up to you.

I agree its a lot of money for something that doesnt affect the performance of the car, but yes it is annoying as well. These are the pics of the damage, one of these dents ( top of front wing) was done SINCE its been sitting in my garden:mad:.

The front wing is dented in a few places so I am wondering if its a better idea to try and find one in a scrapyard ( IF we can find one) and just change the whole thing. The dents to the rear quarters dont have that option but they are not that bad either.

I am thinking about getting the dents sorted out, respray the affected areas and it will look fine, the paintwork is actually in pretty good condition overall. Its only got 47,000 miles on it so it hasnt been used that much for its age.

Apparently Halfords and Kwikfit do dent repairs rather inexpensively but who knows how good they'd be at sorting it. Hopefully someone who has previously used their services can comment?

I considered having Halfords sort one of my dents. My car was keyed some time before I bought it and keying has left a little "crease" on the panel with a dent surrounding it.

There are some DIY videos on youtube on fixing dents with a hairdryer and a can of compressed air.

Fiona from the pics theres no paint damage so a smart repair would be best as the area wouldnt need to be sprayed just knocked/pulled out.

Yeah get a Dent Dr onto the dents and then just have anything sprayed that needs it. Mine cost about £600 with all dents removed. Front end and rear bumper respray. (y)

If you did want to go down the route of changing the colour, why not have the dents removed, and have the car wrapped?

YOU are the one I was looking for with the same colour Stilo! I was talking to my son about getting it wrapped after seeing the matt black one that was posted here a week or so ago, my other son (17) went back to that thread repeatedly to drool over it, (hes a lot more passionate over cars than the rest of us lol), the thing that we wondered about it was, does the matt finish show every little tiny scratch or blemish really badly? I can imagine it even showing finger prints although I never saw one close up so I could be wrong. How durable is the finished product?

I hear they are very durable and have a 12 year guarantee or something silly. But tbh I wouldnt change the colour of my car. I love the colour. And when the dents and scratches have been taken out of yours and its been washed, waxed and polished, trust me it looks awesome.

How about something like the attached? Just not as low (photoshop)

Yes I think yours looks great, I knew there were pics here someplace, I just couldnt remember where, I will show him this. I like the black wheels, what do you think of tinting the windows? Is that going to look a bit silly on a 1.2 active?

I think the main problem is that my Stilo looks nicer than his at the moment, its metallic carbon black and shines a kind of deep purple in the sunlight, its in awesome condition, it has cream leather trim and because its a 1.6 dynamic its got quite a few extras that his doesnt have (like speed lol), so when the two are parked side by side he is more drawn to mine (I adore my car in case you cant tell lol), BUT, he wouldnt be able to afford to insure mine as a first time driver so the goal here is to make his car look just as good as mine (they are both 02) without a heavy price tag and I am sure it can be done.

Infact I prefer my car to look classy, conservative and understated and he would be happier with something more sporty and eyecatching - something that looks more like many of the cars you guys here have, I love my car exactly as it is but to many of you it probably appears to be lacking. The great thing about the Stilo, IMO is that you can take the same car and go for different looks.
