peeps i need tips and tricks on removing the complete original air intake on the JTD and fitting the GSR induction.

was quoted £100 to do it and fit the front and rear braces, which i think is a bit steep,

or what do you guys think?

basically im having the GSR from Frank aka 'stilosporting' in exchange for the original gubbins

£100 sounds alright to me, just think the front brace involves making a lowering template for the fuel filter then drilling the suspension turrets, it all takes time ( I know I've done it, LOL).

ya i know about the plate. told them about it and they said it'll be fine.

they said the induction/intake saga should take between 2-3 hours hence quoted me £100.

oh well, if thats how much it is then

they also do remaps and have a RR. they wanted £300 with a 30bhp increase :p

Red-Dot/GSR all the way :slayer:

ahh, sod it, nothing that cant be fixed :p

ABZ and minimad are running fine, albeit with a couple of warining lights here and there

anyways i've found someone who is willing to do it. my local Longlife place, they are awesome people and we get along rather well.

I need picts if possible and/or a simple how to or what to look out for or whats the tricky bit etc ASAP of you please

bump!

PNL, where are you!

Moderating on the new stilo site..

I say dont fit it why cause yourself extra grief when there is no need to Abz is NOT happy with the way his car is running after fitting it..once your air box is gone its gone and your well and truly up a gum tree then..I saw frank fitting his and he dropped his bumper to get at the turbo..

Oz,
I don't have GSR fitted, just the Reddot remap same as Abzstilo, I think its the map that causes the intermittant beeps on light throttle issues. I'm sure the GSR has has it's own too though.
Would be interesting to see how it runs WITHOUT a redot map (can't remember what map you've got)

This has been covered a few time now but the basic problem with the GSR kit is that it repositions the MAF sensor in position that gives nonsense readings to the ECU.

The simple premise then being that a live map can then compensate for these false readings - but as we all know - that failed :(

I think if you try the induction kit without a remap or with just a generic remap then the problems could well be worse - although not sure if anyone has actually tried :chin:.

Looks like Oz will be the first

got the GSR today and its looks like a little 30cm fart

is that all it is?

i was expecting a long downwards tube going to the bottom of the engine bay like the 1.6 and 2.4 ones

(n)

it literally is a 30cm straight pipe with 2 holes on it.

just looks rather unimpressive. i didnt get a filter either or clips/brackets, just the silicone pipe ???

Mark, PM me with the politics please, and tell me if the gang will be on here of FS-OC in the future :shakehead:

Told you it wouldnt be worth the effort didnt I ..;) I'm still here and moderate on the new stilo club..and as long as I am around will continue to help people as much as I can..thats all I ever wanted to do ..(y)

help me then innit :p

you fitted some didnt you?

i popped over FS-OC once, now that the "other" site has gone down the pan, will try and increase my presence on FS-OS (y)

As I said mate to get at the turbo to connect the hose you would be better off dropping the bumper on the car..plus you will have to get a new filter to fit the hose as Frank didnt supply you one..its the only one on the stilo range i actually never fitted so the bracket is a no no to me ..could make you one quite easily though if you wanted one..might be a good Idea if you can get hold of Peter or maybe ask Dave to ask him for some dimensions and sizes etc..would give me some thing to work from at least..always here to help you if I can Oz..(y)

best person to ask would be abz, he got the new one that fit propperly, very minor changes.

aww come on phil, its worth it for the noise, the jtd sounds mean:devil:

and im sure i could get it to run without warning lights, we got the 2.4 going without warning lights(y)
